New hosting

Friday, November 17, 2006
Well finally I managed to get myself a domain and new hosting. I chose dreamhost as their package is very,very interesting. For me, I chose :

Crazy Domain Insane! package.

24 hour Technical Support (E-Mail)
Disk Storage at signup = 200GB (yess GigaBytes, not megabytes)
Automatically Increases Weekly By 1GB ( Can you believe that. Everyweek my space will
increases by 1GB)

Monthly Bandwidth at signup = 2 TB (TeraBytes.. not GigaBytes and of cause not puny megabytes)
Automatically Increases Weekly By 16 GB.

Mysql databases = Unlimited
User Account = Email-Pop / IMAP (3000), webbased, Email filtering, email aliases(unlimited), ssh, ftp.
Free Domain registration
Free domain whois privacy
domain and subdomain hosted = Unlimited
Programming able/ready,
Data Backup
Access to raw log files (important)
and many others.

It costs me RM436.00 per year. IMHO this is a best deal compared to other hosting companies. Why not check it out here?

Plan to design my own site, host my own photo gallery, and many others. One by one eh? :D

Microsoft Vista Ultimate Release Candidate 1

Thursday, November 16, 2006
Thanks to wifey, I have the opportunity to install Microsoft Vista RC1 on my Compaq V3010AU which suppose to be Vista Ready. Actually I intended to do dual booting with my XP Pro but alas, due to my kegelojohan and kedegilan+kemalasan to look for proper ways to make this dual booting happens, I successfully messed up my XP partition as well. There goes my vmware too (wipe tears).

Installation
Compared to XP, I found that Vista installation is much simpler-IMHO. U can load your device drivers before proper installation can begin (I chose to install my drivers later-kinda ol skool ler). The process? Read the instruction laaaa... Too lazy to type, but for any request, I am more than happy to assist.

As for Vista RC1, there's no proper driver besides the ones that I have in the cd where those drivers are meant for Windows XP. So I have to update those drivers online (not that difficult, vista will handle that for you keh keh keh. Btw the windows will be updated including the drivers as well. Anyway, before any updating can be done, U have to activate/register your vista online so Microsoft can determined whether your windows is genuine or loyat made.

Requirement and interface
To be honest, Vista interface is kinda confusing, messy for me. Perhaps I am the only one who have that kind of opinion. Lots of eye candy. It means that your pc need to have a good Graphic card, good processor power, big sized hard disk and of cause a good GB of RAM. My compaq powered by AMD Turion64 X2 1.6GHz, 60GB 5400rpm SATA HDD, 2GB Kingston pc667 DDR2 SDRAM, nVIDIA go 6150 (256MB) Graphic card. The performance? So and so laa.. But no signs of sluggishness tho. Anyway you can access/see/know your pc performance thru "Performance Information and Tools" menu from Control Panel. From there u can see the score of your processor(Calculation per second), memory-RAM(Memory operations per second), Graphics (Desktop performance for Windows Aero, Gaming Graphic (3D business and gaming graphic performance) and lastly Primary Hard Disk (Disk data rate transfer). Those component scores were called subscore where the lowest score of any of those component will be the base score of your computer.

Excerpt from the help file "The base score is a good indicator of how your computer will perform generally. The subscores can help you understand your computer's level of performance for specific experiences". Microsoft did state at their webpage that there are two categories (If i'm wrong, pls tell me).

1. Vista capable PC
A Windows Vista Capable PC includes at least:
* A modern processor (at least 800MHz1).
* 512 MB of system memory.
* A graphics processor that is DirectX 9 capable.
To be honest, with this kind of specs, better stick to XP.

2. Windows Vista Premium Ready PC
A Windows Vista Premium Ready PC includes at least:

* 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor1.
* 1 GB of system memory.
* Support for DirectX 9 graphics with a WDDM driver, 128 MB of graphics memory (minimum)2, Pixel Shader 2.0 and 32 bits per pixel.
* 40 GB of hard drive capacity with 15 GB free space.
* DVD-ROM Drive3.
* Audio output capability.
* Internet access capability.
Guess my laptop falls into category 2.

Anyway as I am not a good writer due to my laziness, lack of writing skills, so heres some snapshot for the ooooooohh and ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhs.

The desktop, nothing to show. But do notice the sidebar. U even can add other apps or gadgets.

My hardware performance and my base score. Not enuff for gaming and 3D tho)Oh ya, I'm using genuine Windows Vista RC 1 yee..

My hardware properties. Notice that there is a failure in properly installing my amd driver.

Impressive aaa?

My verdict? Nice but too many eye candy, I'd givin up but as I just installed vista today, so no clear review/judgment . For time being, I'd stick to windows xp till the patched version of vista produce at lowyat.

Menghitung hari...

Friday, November 10, 2006
Hahaha, counting my last days here at the client site. As I am not qualified (after solving/assisting/consulting/evidence gathering/ countless incident handling/TOTs/sniffing/ penetration cases, serious and less serious). Hehehehe. It seems like personnel from HQ will be transferred here in exchange of us. Well to those guys I would like to say welcome, take the opportunity to learn/enhanche our knowledge in this field. Trust me, the experience is valuable.

Actually everyday here is challenging, especially in dealing with human. I've learnt how to be a diplomatic person in conveying my opinions while rejecting others (which sometimes is totally unbelievable), how to reject a nonsense request in a manner that didn't offend other party, learn how to present your ideas, opinions, giving consultations, doing presentation (which the teaching experience that I had from Unicock and Systematic -now know as Segi college KL really help). And of cause, my tolerance and patience level is now at a different level (even tho sometimes I do mumble by myself in the toilet).

So guys dun be too depressed. You may never know that maybe this is the place for you. Hehehehe. I have no regrets whatsoever during my services years here. I do cherish every moment; the bad, the good and the ugly. These kind of experience will only make us more mature and wiser (hopefully lah).

Now preparing myself for tentative transfer to the HQ (if THE OTHER project didn't materialized)

So to my HQ colleagues, welcome.. And to my team members and to all my colleagues here at THE client site, I just want to say goodbye, thanks for the memories (macam taklei jumpa kat HQ) and please keep up the good work ye?

p/s: Yahuuuuuuuuuuu

Goodbye and good luck my friends.

To all my former team members (or going to leave us soon), I wish you good luck, thank you for your time, sacrifices, coorperation, hopefully our relationship will never end. As I always said, I am always open for any questions, discussions or anything especially related to security matters. (Other things pun bole wat). Thank you.

p/s: Just remember the hardship that we've been through all these years, all the stupidity that we have to face everyday. keh keh keh

Good girl

Took Iman to have her immunisation shot today (delayed for few months). Dunno whether the medical card gonna cover this shot or not but just wait till the end of the month lah. We went to this clinic behind our house. Actually I kinda lazy to go there as the services soooooo "cepat" but as the shot is important and wifey need to get her MC as well, so have to drag my lazy ass.
Sorry aa, this picture was taken using my cokia 6070

After having our breakfast (breakfast? brunch? at 11.00am), we went to the clinic and as I expected, the service is as the same as before (even tho I did notice the additional personnel compared to my last visit- well sometimes too many heads/hands/minds didn't help eh?) Wifey met the doctor 1st, get her back ache sorted out and importantly get her MC. After that I have to take Iman inside (I did insist on staying outside - I can't bear to watch my daughter crying/jabbed by that needle lah. Same as I can't bear to listen her crying while the doctors took her blood for test/analyze for sakit kuning). After listening the lecture from the doctor for delaying the immunisation shots, then the proceeding began. I just can't bring myself to watch so instead I look/read about diabetes pasted on the wall.

A few moments later wifey said, "dah sudah".

"Ehh, IMan didn't cry? Kulit bontot dia keras ke tadek perasaan ni?" I replied

"Iman bukan macam you lah. So nisha pun tak nangis, I guess this trait inherited from me laa"

No comment.

p/s : Anyway I do proud of both of my daughters. Keh keh keh

Glory glory Man Utd

Tuesday, November 07, 2006
Since Man Utd is at the summit of the premiership table instead of Chelski, I helped myself with a new jersey yesterday. Bought it at Al-Ihsan sports shop, costs me RM 259 (get one Umbro back pack as free gift tho). My last Utd jersey was 94/95 season. The one with Old Trafford as a backdrop/background, sharp as the main sponsor complete with Premier League badges on both sleeves and yes Eric Cantona is still playing at that time. And the price was RM 169. From now on, I will wear my new acquired jersey every United games.

Authentic Nike's Manchester United Football Club Jersey

p/s: Sorry spurs, I used to support them back 1987 during FA Cup Final between them and Coventry (If I'm not mistaken and I am too lazy to check) but then I discovered mr Bryan Robson
