FIRST
It's a local product, developed by my school mate, Mr Azril Azam a.k.a Tanggang. To quote him
"FIRST = Forensic Investigation & Recovery System
OK, FIRST ni bukan Encase (http://www.guidancesoftware.com).
Encase is just an expert software while FIRST will be expert
software + Linux Distribution (mcm RedHat) + Distro (Helix,
Knoppix, Fire) + Open Source Solution.
Lebih tepat FIRST current version is mcm other Linux Distro for
Forensics mcm Fire and Helix.
Beza dia ialah, Fire + Helix, is just a software rebundle
running on Linux either gentoo or Knoppix distribution.
Unlike FIRST, aku built up the kernel 100%. Infact the kernel
itself aku dah modified for fast bootup + memory efficient.
Scripting pun aku tukar. Add certain libraries for direct comm
between Apps + Kernel + Hardware.
Current FIRST version, aku bundle semua security OSS software yg
ada. In addition to that, aku ade letak FIRST DiskImager. Yg ni
developed 100% by aku la. Soon, Banyak lagi akan ditambah
termasuk la FIRST Window Manager. Sekarang aku tibai guna IceWM.
Hopefully by next year, aku akan announced FIRST Mobile Phone
Forensics.
Cerita pendek, FIRST will seangkatan dengan RedHat ada
distribution sendiri. Tapi Sekarang mcm distro biasa jer. On
manual or training, Manual + Reference Book aku dok tgh tulis.
Source Codes, kena tunggu webserver aku siap. Aku tak letak
sekali source code dlm distribution sebab nak maintain small
size. Training, probably will handled by our dearest National
Incident, Security and Emergency Response Centre (NISER
http://www.niser.org.my)

1. Pegi ke http://mymirror.asiaosc.org/FIRST/
2. Download The ISO file
3. Bukak NERO, and choose burn CD Image. Bukan Make Data CD
4. Choose the downloaded ISO and burn on your CD
5. Set you computer to be able boot from CD
6. Insert the CD and wait for it to boot up
7. Got 4 menu. Choose Boot To Desktop With No DHCP
8. Play with it as you play with WinXP
In addition to that, FIRST won the gold award for Innovation in
ITEX2006. So sekarang tgh melobi untuk prime minister award for
MSC-APICTA. Kalau rajin, boleh google FIRST tapi kena set "web from
M'sia" untuk other info on it."
